Segerstrom Jaguars

Congratulations to our Track & Field teams who swept the Golden West League Meet last week. The Preliminaries were held on Monday, and Finals on Wednesday and Thursday.

Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity, Boys Junior Varsity, Girls Junior Varsity, and Boys Frosh/Soph teams all accumulated the highest point totals in their divisions. Congratulations to the following event winners:

The Lady Jags Softball team competed in the Pioneer / Santa Fe Tournament on March 7 and 14, taking the championship without a loss.

Semifinals: In semifinal action, Segerstrom took on the Banning Pilots.  The Jaguars scored a run in the 4th inning, Frances Parga singled in the top of the 5th inning driving in the tying run.  The Lady Jags continued to put the pressure on loading the bases. Laura Magana worked a full count into a walk, sending in the go ahead run.  Natalia Madrigal singled up the middle to drive in the remaining two runners. Pitcher Selene Pola moves to 2-1 on the season. Segerstrom will move on to play against Cantwell Scared-Heart in the Championship game.

Championship Game: In championship action the Lady Jaguars defeated Cantwell 8-3 to win the Pioneer/Santa Fe Tournament.  Pitcher Monica Segura had 10 strikeouts, and was selected as the tournament MVP.  Other outstanding players were Breanne Gomez who went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's, Marleen Rodriguez also went 2 for 4, 1 RBI and had 2 stolen bases.  Awesome job Segerstrom!

Segerstrom is now 6-1 overall on the season.

Senior Monica Segura signed a letter of intent with Northern Illinois University on November 14th, 2008.  Congratulations to Monica who will join the NIU Huskies Softball program next season.
